The expected open-world game – which won’t include a disc – is virtually identical to every other PS5 release, in a sealed blue plastic case with the usual logos and layout.
Fans will be able to purchase boxed versions of the Rockstar release from retailers starting November 12, giving them a week to preload the 212GB title before launch.
This is the first major title to be delivered in code-in-box format, although this will become much more common in 2028, when Sony has signaled plans to stop making Blu-ray discs.
Personally, I’m concerned about the waste of plastic here. I understand that some people might still want to display a case with their other games, but if we get rid of discs, I would like Sony to implement some sort of recyclable format in the future.
Remember, if you want a Leonidas map to accompany your physical copy of GTA 6, you’ll need to purchase it separately for $0.99 from the Rockstar Store.
