Eagles quarterback Jalen hurts Wednesday refused to say more regarding a calf injury that appeared on Friday’s injury report.
On Thursday, the Eagles said it all.
Hurts is out for the Week 6 game against the Panthers with a blood clot in his leg.
Here is the team’s full statement:
“On Thursday, October 8, Jalen went to the training room after practice to seek treatment for his calf. He informed the medical staff that he had been injured during the Rams game on October 4. It was his first treatment session for the calf injury after the game, after practicing fully on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, Jalen received treatment, practiced fully and was added to the practice report.
“Out of an abundance of caution, an ultrasound was performed Saturday after the team flew to London and visited. The ultrasound revealed a superficial blood clot. Our medical staff and doctors in London reviewed the results and concluded that activity and mobility were significant and that Jalen was safe to play. Doctors recommended a follow-up ultrasound within 72 hours of the game and flight back to Philadelphia.
“Jalen played without limitations in Sunday’s game, received treatment Monday and Tuesday and practiced fully on Wednesday, as reflected in the training report. Throughout our time in London and this week, we have remained in communication with the league office on this matter.
“Wednesday evening, a follow-up ultrasound revealed movement in the small blood clot. Jalen will be out for Sunday’s game against the Panthers as we determine the appropriate treatment. His health and safety are our highest priority.”
Needless to say, this is a situation that could take some time to resolve. For now, he will miss at least one game.
