US President Donald Trump said Thursday evening that he has no regrets about the outbreak of war in Iran, despite the effect the conflict could have on the US midterm elections. Oil prices now appear firmly anchored above the $100 mark, the highest since May.
Oil climbs again
Oil continued its progression on Friday, with a barrel of Brent gaining 0.55% to $108.22 in early trade in Asia, after surging 6.34% the day before following strikes on ships in the Gulf. The price of North American WTI rose 0.58% to $103.07, after jumping 6.7% on Thursday.
Prices now appear firmly anchored above the $100 mark, at their highest since May, weighing on motorists’ wallets and the economy.
Donald Trump has no regrets for the war in Iran
US President Donald Trump has said he has no regrets over the outbreak of war in Iran, despite the effect the conflict could have on the US midterm elections.
“I don’t believe in ‘regrets,'” Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News broadcast Thursday. “If I had to do it again, I would do the exact same thing.”
The White House tenant refuted the idea that the conflict upset and demoralized some of his supporters. “I don’t think they’re demoralized. I think they’re very proud that I’m not letting Iran have a nuclear weapon,” he said.
Donald Trump once again affirmed that the conflict would end immediately after the mid-term elections next November. “It will end the night after the election,” he said.
