Police forced to intervene during Meghan Markle’s first official outing with Prince Harry

What royal pain.

Police were forced to intervene during Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first official outing in Nottingham, England, on Thursday after crowds invaded their Range Rover and blocked their exit.

According to Hello! The magazine’s royal correspondent who was there to cover the visit, police had to disperse the crowd surrounding the car, telling them to “go back” and “keep moving back.”

Police were also present on the streets surrounding the children’s charity the couple were visiting, Epic Partners on Edale Road.

Page Six has contacted Nottinghamshire Police for comment.

Thursday marked the couple’s first official joint engagement since returning to the UK in August.

Harry, 42, and Markle, 45, attended an acting workshop at the Community Recording Studio, followed by a meeting with members of Hubb Community Kitchen at the Himmah Hub food bank.

Their last stop of the day, where the police were forced to intervene, was at Epic Partners.

The couple returned to England with their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, just six years after taking a ‘free flight’ from Canada to Los Angeles.

In California, the family lived in a $14 million mansion in Montecito, California, where they could celebrate the holidays this season.

In August, Page Six exclusively revealed that the couple was returning to the UK to be closer to Harry’s father, King Charles, and to ensure their children bonded with their family.

Despite his return, Harry is still separated from his brother, Prince William.

King Charles announced last month that the As Ever founder and her husband would not act as royals while living in England and would be “private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”

However, it seems the pair have enjoyed their time across the pond so far, as they have been spotted out and about town.

Prince Harry has made several appearances since his return, such as attending the Invictus Spirit Gala and a rugby match, where he was booed by the crowd.

Markle, for her part, was seen spending time with exiled expat Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, at the Three Horseshoes pub near Burford, Oxfordshire, in September.

Earlier this month, she also enjoyed a girls’ night out with Malala Yousafzai at the lavish Claridge’s Hotel in London.

The two teamed up to bring together jam company Markle’s As Ever and Malala Fund to mark International Day of the Girl on October 11.
