At a rally in northern Georgia, Donald Trump again claimed that the 2020 election in Georgia was fraudulent, alleging that the election of U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff was illegitimate.
Ossoff, who faces U.S. Rep. Mike Collins in November, does not represent Georgia’s values, Trump said.
“And he was never elected,” Trump added.
Ossoff has maintained a consistent lead against Collins, with the most recent polls showing him with a nine-point lead over his Republican rival.
Trump claimed he was poised to complete the “most successful” two-year presidency in history, touting stock market gains, low unemployment and poverty rates and the creation of “Trump accounts” for newborns. Trump again declared that American voters would receive a $5,000 government check if Republicans held the U.S. House of Representatives, saying $21 trillion in foreign manufacturing investment promised under his watch would offset the $1 trillion cost.
Most of these promises are still unfulfilled.
Trump also touted his record on immigration and the overthrow of the Venezuelan government.
“Forty-eight hours, and this war was over,” Trump said.
He described the early days of the war against Iran from the perspective of Oval Office meetings and damage reports, particularly strikes against Iranian leaders.
“They will blow up Israel, they will blow up the Middle East,” Trump said of Iran and the need to launch attacks. “Iran is the only country where no one wants to be president.”
The war in Iran has caused gasoline and diesel prices to soar. Trump has dismissed criticism citing the rising cost of living under his watch, calling the term “affordability” Democratic propaganda.
“Over the past 17 months, no illegal aliens have been admitted to the United States,” he said.
An undocumented migrant is rarely officially “admitted”.
Trump returned to his usual themes at the rally, which began around 2 p.m. About 1,200 people filled the stands at Dalton Municipal Airport. Trump took the stage around 4:20 p.m., 80 minutes after he was scheduled to begin, with about 300 people standing, unshaded, in the Georgia afternoon sun. His supporters were fearless.
“Donald Trump is the greatest president of all time,” said Tracy Spencer of Chattanooga, Tennessee, as she waited for the president to arrive at Marine One. When asked how she responds to growing criticism of the president from disillusioned conservatives, she sneered.
“Well, none of my friends and family express it to me, because they know better,” she said. “But I’ve heard rumors that some people think that, and I would tell those people that growth doesn’t happen overnight and there are growing pains.”
Trump indirectly addressed his administration’s attacks on anti-discrimination policies he calls “DEI” while describing the “beauty” of an American soldier he met at the White House.
“It’s all based on merit,” Trump said. “I really have difficulty with the Supreme Court, but… our country is now based on merit. »
Two protesters briefly displayed a banner with an anti-ICE slogan. They were quickly removed from the stands by security. The attack on a protester in Ohio by Trump supporters in the stands on Monday was not repeated.
