Over 12 years, five seasons and 30 episodes, HBO shows True Detective has delivered some of the best police procedural series on the box – and the key to the anthology series’ continued success has been the strength of each season’s central cop duos. From Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in season 1 to Jodie Foster and Kali Reis in Night Countrythe series never lacked star power at any point during its run. And now HBO has officially confirmed True Detective The power couple of season 5: the real Nicolas Cage and the real Antonio Banderas. Check out the announcement below;
Originally from True Detective: Land of the Night Showrunner Issa López’s final season of HBO’s critically acclaimed anthology series is set to relocate investigative work to Jamaica Bay, New York. And while we don’t yet know what the deal will be, who else will star alongside Cage and Banderas, or when can we even expect the fifth installment of T.D. to hit our screens, we TO DO I know some things for sure. First, if there are no character details, we at least have names for our new cop duo: Banderas is set to play the role of Rai García while Cage will play the role of Henry Logan. And secondly, we also know that filming is not far disabled, with the current plan being for filming to begin in 2027.
Although Banderas doesn’t bring much experience as real detectives to his latest assignment, Cage, on the other hand, is a bit of a pro at this point, having starred as private detective Ben Reilly in Black Spider already this year and before it has significantly expanded its investigative capabilities – for the better And worst – in Bad lieutenant, Snake-eyesAnd that remake of The Wicker ManAlso. For now though, all we really need to know is that we’re a Banderas x Cage x López team. A killer combo, surely we can all agree.
