The new Ressence Type 10 DN (Dark Night) is powered by the new Ressence Cal. RW-04 self-winding movement, which is an evolution of the RW-01 specially designed for the Type 10. It retains the double barrel configuration of the RW-01, offering 60 hours of power, and has 252 components (the entire watch has 538 parts, including 196 in the ROCS module).
Adding an oil-filled dial complicates things. Oil and mechanical movements don’t mix well, which is why, like Ressence’s other oil watches, the Type 10 divides its mechanisms into two separate chambers. The upper chamber, containing the ROCS module, is filled with oil. The lower chamber, with the RW-04 movement, contains only air.

The two are separated by a waterproof 0.1mm titanium membrane. On each side of this membrane is a system of micromagnets that allows the movement and the module to interact without the two physically touching. It’s science fiction, basically, which sums up Ressence in a few words.
The Type 10’s display shows hours, minutes and a second time zone, which technically makes the watch a GMT, albeit a very unconventional one.
