Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse developers are fully aware and loving the “hot” fanart for their game

The developers behind Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse are excited about all the “exciting” fanart they’ve seen of the game’s characters, saying they specifically made them “hot” to appeal to fans.

Castlevania: The Curse of Belmont released on October 15, and you’ve no doubt already seen the wealth of wild reactions to the title from players online, particularly when it comes to its character designs.

Yes, it’s true; Players crave Trevor Belmont and the various monsters they must battle as they navigate the chaotic streets of Paris, but they shouldn’t be embarrassed by it. In fact, the developers were counting on this.

Talk with Fall damagemarketing director and lead designer Bérenger Dupré and Sandro Bordier revealed that they love the thirsty reactions to the game’s characters – and that includes the “excited” fanart they’ve seen on social media.

“Oh, it’s already started. Like, man, we’ve seen some things,” Bordier joked.

“Trevor, especially,” Dupré added. “I didn’t think it would be so well received.”

“Do you think we could add a ‘Hot Dads Edition?'” Bourdier asked, prompting Dupré to say that “there should be a Game Award for hot dads.”

“It’s always fun to see the fanart, because we know how important and how dear these characters are to the fans. We’re trying to create new stories with them, so it’s always quite stressful. And so far, the reception is very, very emotional,” Dupré continued.

The duo then admitted that they went out of their way to make these characters appealing, with Boudier saying: “Yeah, like we know some characters are sexy. It’s a choice, actually. Like it’s a vibe. We’re pretty proud of it.”

“Honestly, we’ve been very happy with all the fan reactions to the revealed characters,” he added. “We really put a lot of love from the team into designing them in a way that fans would like. We were very happy to see how they reacted to the designs and the voice actor reveals that, of course.”

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse received solid reviews, with Scott White of IGN giving the game an eight out of ten, praising it for “bringing Konami’s beloved series into the modern era by focusing first on action.”

It’s clear that a lot of love has been put into this title; Among the various Easter eggs and secret codes found inside, the developers have also paid homage to classic fighting game characters, which can be seen if players collect a hidden weapon in one of the game’s early areas.
