Video: Mike Malott knocks out Joaquin Buckley with a nasty knee to the face at UFC Edmonton

Mike Malott started slowly, but eventually found his opening to deliver a knockout in front of his home country.

Malott faced Joaquin Buckley in the main event of Saturday’s UFC Edmonton fight card in a welterweight contest. After a competitive first round, Malott threw – what appeared to be – a body kick, but his knee crashed into Buckley’s face, knocking out his mouthpiece and knocking Buckley unconscious.

Check out the wild finish below.

The first round was quite close, with both fighters showing a lot of respect for each other’s power. As the second round began, things started to open up as Buckley came forward with a big burst. Malott managed to get Buckley back against the fence, perhaps to wear down the powerful “New Mansa”.

As things separated, Malott found the opening for the finishing move.

With this victory, “Proper” has now won five in a row, finishing three of these opponents. In his post-fight interview with Paul Felder, Malott made it known that while he didn’t steal the show in a press conference or during an interview, he was certainly capable of doing so inside the octagon every time he competed.

“Guys, I may talk softly, but I hit hard,” Malott said.

Buckley has now lost three fights in a row, but suffered his first stoppage loss in almost four years.

After the win, Malott was asked who he wanted next, and he reiterated that it’s not his style to call people out.

“I see a lot of dangerous guys in the top 10,” Malott said. … “Top 10 at least, maybe top five. »
