Sunday Night Football: Packers improve to 4-2 with 23-13 win over Cowboys

The Packers have stabilized their offensive front and their defense is making significant progress. The team is now on a real winning streak.

Green Bay controlled the ball and the clock Sunday night in beating Dallas 23-13.

The game didn’t seem as close as the final score, as Green Bay took a 17-0 halftime lead and only allowed one goal to Dallas until the end of the fourth quarter.

While a second-half possession was aided by a penalty and moved the Cowboys all the way to the Green Bay 14, the Packers finally managed to get a turnover on downs when Dak Prescott’s pass went high and incomplete out of the end zone.

Prescott ended up throwing 54 times, finishing the night with 258 yards on 34 completions. He had a touchdown and two interceptions, both of which led to first-half points – a field goal and a 1-yard touchdown run by Jordan Love late in the second quarter. He would have had at least one more if it hadn’t been negated by a brutal penalty against the passer.

Prescott was under siege for much of the night, as he was officially hit seven times. The Packers recorded a sack.

On the other side, Love was 23 of 41 for 276 yards with one touchdown and one interception. While the Packers’ running game didn’t get going, Matthew Golden led the team with six catches for 104 yards with a touchdown. Christian Watson also had 64 yards on three receptions.

Trey Smack connected on three field goals of 25, 44 and 29 yards.

With the win, the Packers are now 4-2 and have won each of their last three games. They will be in Detroit for a big division game against the Lions next week.

The 2-4 Cowboys will be on the road again next week to face their fellow 2-4 Eagles on Monday night.
