Following the Broncos’ overtime win over the Seahawks on Thursday night, Prime Video’s Ryan Fitzpatrick sharply criticized quarterback Bo Nix, calling his performance “garbage.”
Broncos coach Sean Payton clearly doesn’t see it that way.
On Monday, reporters asked Payton if he was considering making a quarterback change.
“To answer your question, no,” Payton said. “It’s going to become the byproduct of all the great things that are improved. The better our offensive line play gets, the more effective we are at balancing and running the football. That’s our job as a coach here. We talked after the game about how eager we are to get this win, and at the same time find the improvement we need in all areas. So it starts with all of us.”
Payton was also asked if he listened to media comments about Nix, including Fitzpatrick’s remarks.
“I’m trying to focus on the next day here,” Payton said. “We’re trying to focus on getting ready to play Arizona. That’s kind of where our attention is.”
Payton could have taken the bait to talk about Fitzpatrick. Payton chose not to. Had he intervened, Payton’s response might have been as entertaining as The withdrawal of Aqib Talib by Fitzpatrick.
Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick will get another chance to evaluate and criticize Nix. The Broncos will face the Steelers on Black Friday and the game will be televised by Prime Video.
