A US federal judge on Thursday, September 24, ordered Donald Trump’s administration to lift the ban on access to the White House that the president imposed on CNN, MS NOW and Politico, finding that this decision is probably contrary to the Constitution of the United States.
The three media outlets, deprived of access to the White House since Saturday, took legal action on Monday, invoking the right to freedom of expression guaranteed by the First Amendment of the American Constitution. They requested that access be granted to them again pending resolution of the dispute.
“Defendants (except President Trump), their agents, representatives, and any person or entity acting in concert with them, are further ordered to immediately return, reinstate and relinquish the permanent White House press credentials held by employees of CNN, MSNBC and Politico, which were revoked on or about September 18,” said the order from the court presided over by Judge Tim Kelly, appointed by Donald Trump.
The American president, accustomed to attacks against media that displease him since his return to power in January 2025, justified his decision by accusing CNN, MS NOW (formerly MSNBC) and Politico of spreading false information.
