DETROIT — General engines is expected to report third-quarter results before the bell Tuesday.
Here’s what Wall Street expects, according to average estimates compiled by LSEG:
- Earnings per share: $3.63 adjusted estimated
- Income: $48.70 billion estimated
These results would mark relatively flat revenue from the previous year and an increase of about 30% in adjusted earnings per share. GM’s third-quarter 2025 results included revenue of $48.59 billion, net income attributable to shareholders of $1.3 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $2.80.
Investors will be watching to see if GM raises its 2026 forecast and if there are any early indications of expectations for next year, which Wall Street predicts will be tough for the U.S. auto industry.
“While we expect slightly better results for 3Q26, investors will likely focus on 2027 revisions and we do not see results leading to significant upside,” Rajat Gupta, an analyst at JPMorgan, said in an Oct. 11 investor note.
Wall Street analysts are split on whether GM, which has steadily raised its forecasts throughout the year, will do so on Tuesday amid concerns over slowing sales and rising raw material costs.
GM raised its 2026 guidance when it reported its second quarter results to include adjusted earnings before interest and taxes of between $14 billion and $16 billion, or adjusted EPS of $12 to $14. Its automotive adjusted free cash flow forecast is between $9.5 billion and $11.5 billion.
In addition to earnings and guidance, investors will be watching for updates on the company’s launch of redesigned full-size pickup trucks, improvements to its warranty and any notable growth in GM’s software and services operations.
