Original story: There’s obviously been a lot of talk over the last few years, and especially the last few months, about how AI is making huge waves within the games industry and changing the way we think about both gaming and game development.
Just a few days ago, Asha Sharma revealed something called Xbox Labs which appears be an experimental division of AI to help conjure up new ideas for the future, but its accompanying statement did not specifically mention AI.
Today, a senior business strategy manager at Microsoft unexpectedly shared some thoughts on the topic of AI, Xbox and the gaming industry as a whole, saying it’s “time to accept” that games will use AI in 2026.
He even indicated that he could be fired for his comments, although we certainly hope that doesn’t happen!
Here are some examples of what he had to say:
Before all of this, the Microsoft employee pointed out that he had coded a “bad but improveable” game in just three hours and that he believed that anyone could now make a game. He then wondered how much better it could be if “two people helped me for a year.”
Anyway, you get the point: Brandon wants to raise awareness that AI is being used in the gaming industry, but (at least in his opinion) many people avoid talking about it because “users have a negative feeling.”
So, what do you think? Do you agree with what is said here? Let us know in the comments.
