Jay-Z Picks Jay-Z to Headline Super Bowl 2027 Halftime Show

Jay-Z, whose Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show is hosted by Roc Nation, will headline the 2027 event at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, a music industry insider confirmed to Deadline.

The rap superstar and 25-time Grammy winner made headlines while in the middle of the Jay-Z 30 Tour’s global concerts to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his debut album. Reasonable doubt and the 25th anniversary of its founder The plan. As part of these milestones, an eight-part docuseries Jay-Z in 8 about his career, made in conversation with super-producer Rick Rubin, launched on HBO Max and HBO last month.

This 2027 Super Bowl will take place on February 14 at SoFi, the Inglewood venue where Jay-Z is performing two shows this Friday and Saturday – probably the perfect place to make his Super Bowl halftime return official. ESPN is broadcasting this year’s game which will be simulcast on ABC.

The NFL did not respond to a request for comment on the Jay-Z news Tuesday.

With Jay-Z ready, the next question would be who will join him as special guests. Beyoncé is a likely choice (she appeared on the Yankee Stadium leg of the tour with her spouse), with others, including Nas and Pharrell Williams, also at the New York shows. The recent London stop at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium featured a mini-reunion of the Fugees with Lauryn Hill and Wyclef.

Another possibility: In May, Jay-Z joined his longtime collaborators The Roots to host the group’s Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, their first meeting in more than a decade.

Last year, Bad Bunny headlined the Super Bowl halftime show at Levis Stadium in San Francisco. The performance, which included appearances by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin as well as appearances by Jessica Alba, Pedro Pascal and many others, attracted 128.8 million viewers. That’s a slight drop from Kendrick Lamar’s record total of 133 million viewers in 2025.

Lamar co-headlined the 2022 halftime show, the last time the Super Bowl was held in Los Angeles. He was joined by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Mary J. Blige for this performance.

Puck was the first to announce Jay-Z’s selection.
