Nugent remains silent and impassive in courtpublished at 00:28 BST on October 21

Appearing in court for the first time, Brendan Nugent sat in the dock, dressed in a grey-blue jumper, accompanied by two custody officers.
He looked around the court as the hearing, which was over within minutes, unfolded: at the television screen broadcasting the case, then at the reporters’ benches.
Space in the second court was limited, with journalists crowded into three benches alongside police and members of the public. There was only a little over a meter between the platform and where I was sitting.
Nugent showed no emotion and only stood up when the magistrate spoke to him about attending a detention hearing in February. He nodded once, but said nothing.
