195 contacts identified in confirmed measles case in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – The Alabama Department of Public Health says 195 contacts have been identified at different exposure locations linked to a confirmed case of measles in Huntsville.

The case was confirmed last Tuesday, October 13, after the patient traveled abroad before returning home. Health officials issued an alert to anyone who may have been exposed at two locations: the Subway on Bailey Cove Road and the Publix on Bailey Cove Road Southeast.

A third exhibition location has been identified but has not been made public. Additional cases could emerge as early as October 28, although this date could change if more cases are confirmed.

Investigators from Jefferson County and other areas of Alabama are assisting in the case.
