As Super Typhoon Champi – now the world’s strongest storm of the year – heads towards eastern China, authorities are planning evacuations and urging those in its path to prepare.
Airports in major Chinese cities could be affected by the storm, including Wenzhou Longwan, Fuzhou Changle, Ningbo Lishe, Hangzhou Xiaoshan, Shanghai Hongqiao, Shanghai Pudong and Xiamen Gaoqi, according to aviation data platform VariFlight.
Travelers are bracing for possible disruptions, although no large-scale delays or cancellations have yet been announced.
Champi is expected to make landfall along the eastern coast of Taiwan around Saturday as a strong typhoon, according to the National Meteorological Center of China.
