Yesterday, we surveyed Digital Foundry’s YouTube audience to see where Grand Theft Auto 6 players would actually play the game when it releases worldwide on November 19. The results are surprising: after 30,000 votes, almost 80% of respondents answered that they would play on PS5 or PS5 Pro, with an almost even split between the PS5 Pro and the base PS5.
Since the base console is significantly more affordable – and more available! – I expected to see a much larger share for the base system than 43 to 36 percent, although I expect the Digital Foundry audience to have a higher proportion of gaming enthusiasts willing to spend more for better hardware than the general population.
With almost four-fifths of respondents citing a PlayStation console, that means just over 20% expect to play on Xbox, with the vast majority here on the Xbox Series

The poll also received 1.8 thousand comments, with the vast majority stating that they were not interested in the game or planned to play on PC – either through an official port or a community recompilation. Rockstar hasn’t even announced a PC version yet, but historically the company has tended to release PC follow-ups within a year or two of the games’ launch on consoles.
The PC version of GTA 6 has been rumored to arrive sooner than usual – perhaps as soon as the first quarter of 2027 – but there doesn’t seem to be much basis for that report yet. Given the extremely fast pace of game ports, AI-accelerated decompilations and recompilations, a faster official PC port would seem logical, but it’s a complicated, multi-factorial decision for Rockstar to make.
