Millions of Americans should receive a paycheck from Amazon credited to “the President.” Trump’s Federal Trade Commission,” an unprecedented decision just weeks before the midterm elections.
Checks, which are part of a $2.5 billion settlement Amazon agreed to in 2025 for allegedly misleading customers into signing up for Prime subscriptionsThis is the first time an FTC reimbursement has attributed the payments to a specific president, two former FTC officials told POLITICO. A notice accompanying the checks in question uses the words “President Trump’s Federal Trade Commission” three times.
“The attached check is the result of a settlement concluded by the President Trump’s Federal Trade Commission (FTC) with Amazon.com (…),” reads the check notice issued by Amazon.
The company did not respond to a request for comment.
