However, the State Emergency Service (DSNS) reported at 7:55 a.m. that one person was killed and 22 others injured, including four children, in Russian attacks on the capital.
In a statement issued at 9:21 a.m., the Kyiv city military administration said 24 people were injured, 16 of whom were hospitalized.
Russian forces launched ballistic missile strikes on six neighborhoods in kyiv starting on the evening of October 21, causing fires and damage, DSNS reported:
Dniprovskiy District: One person was killed and a child was hospitalized. Homes and vehicles were damaged, while residential and non-residential buildings caught fire. Five other people were injured.
Darnytsky district: Transport infrastructure was damaged. No injuries were reported.
Sviatoshynskyi district: A non-residential building and a restaurant complex caught fire. The fire, which covered 1,100 square meters, was extinguished.

Obolonsky district: Non-residential buildings were damaged and fires broke out. Two people were injured. The fires have been extinguished.
Pechersky district: Buildings, ambulances and a monastery were damaged. Eight people were injured, including three children.
Holosiivsky district: Six people were injured when a non-residential building was struck.
The nighttime bombing also damaged metro infrastructure on kyiv’s South Bridge (Pivdennyi), leading to traffic restrictions on a key crossing over the Dnipro River.
In the central Pecherskyi district, Russian strikes damaged an ambulance station and six emergency medical vehicles, according to the mayor.
The latest attack marks a new assault on critical civilian infrastructure in kyiv, with Russian missiles hitting residential neighborhoods, transportation facilities and emergency medical services.
Russian attack damages metro infrastructure on kyiv’s southern bridge
The Russian bombing also affected part of the capital’s metro infrastructure, on the South Bridge, a major passage connecting the two banks of kyiv.
“As a result of the bombing, part of the metro infrastructure on the southern bridge was damaged,” Klitschko reported on Telegram.
The military administration of the city of kyiv announced traffic restrictions on the bridge in the direction from the right bank to the left bank due to the attack.
The bridge allows both road traffic and a section of the Kyiv Metro Green Line crossing the Dnipro.
Damage to the crossing is putting further pressure on kyiv’s transport network, as the capital faces repeated Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure.
Ambulance station hit and six emergency vehicles damaged
The Russian strikes also damaged an emergency medical center in kyiv’s Pecherskyi district.
Klitschko confirmed that the damaged building was an ambulance station and that six ambulances were also damaged.
No medical personnel were injured, the mayor said.
The damage to emergency medical services came as ambulances and rescue teams were responding to injured people elsewhere in the capital.
Restaurant catches fire as residential areas attacked
The nighttime strikes also sparked a fire at a restaurant in kyiv’s Sviatoshynskyi district.
The kyiv city military administration said the fire broke out following the Russian attack, adding another civilian site to the growing list of damaged properties.
Earlier Wednesday evening, Russian missiles struck residential buildings and businesses in the Dniprovskyi district.
Klitschko reported direct impacts to a vehicle repair shop and a private residential building, while debris damaged another home.
Emergency crews were dispatched amid fears people could be trapped under the rubble.
At another location in the same district, missile debris fell near a gas station, causing additional damage.
In the Darnytskyi district, a Russian strike hit transport infrastructure, according to the mayor.
Successive waves of ballistic missiles hit Kyiv overnight
Ukraine’s air force issued repeated warnings as Russian ballistic missiles approached the capital Wednesday evening and after midnight Thursday.
The warnings began during Wednesday evening’s assault, when explosions were reported across kyiv.
Additional ballistic missile threats followed after midnight, including warnings shortly after midnight and another around 12:31 a.m.
The Air Force also spotted Russian attack drones approaching the kyiv region and later warned that a drone was flying over the capital.
Successive threats forced residents to stay in shelters while emergency teams responded to the damage in several districts.
Air Force: Kyiv was the main target as Russia launched missiles and 210 drones
Russian forces launched a massive combined missile and drone attack on Ukraine starting at 6 p.m. on October 21, targeting kyiv as the main strike location, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.
The attack involved Iskander-M and S-400 missiles, Zircon and Oniks missiles and 210 attack drones, including Shahed jet drones, Gerbera and Italmas drones and Parodiya (Parody) decoy drones.
“The main target of the strike was kyiv,” the report said.
The attack was countered by aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare (EW) and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile firing groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
As of 9 a.m. Thursday, preliminary data showed that Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 181 Russian drones, including 87 Shahed-type jet drones, Gerbera drones and other types.
“Ten attack drones remain in the air; combat operations continue! Don’t ignore air raid warnings!” the Air Force notified at 9:01 a.m.
Russian weapons hit 32 sites, while debris from intercepted drones fell on eight other sites.
Russia continues bombing as peace talks resume
The latest strikes came as part of new U.S.-led diplomatic efforts to negotiate an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine.
U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg on Wednesday after holding talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European officials earlier in the week.
The Kremlin then expressed its desire to resume trilateral negotiations involving Ukraine, Russia and the United States.
However, Moscow has not abandoned its territorial claims or its opposition to Ukraine’s membership in NATO.
Meanwhile, Russian forces continue to attack Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure as winter approaches.
Ukrainian officials have repeatedly stressed that any negotiated settlement must include reliable security guarantees to prevent further Russian aggression.
