Gigi Hadid defends Elsa Hosk against Victoria's Secret critics

Gigi Hadid knows that these critics never made the move.

After the Victoria’s Secret Angel Elsa Hosk— a veteran model who walked in eight consecutive shows from 2011 to 2018 — received criticism for her appearance at the brand’s Oct. 18 event, Hadid responded to the noise.

“It’s definitely a PMO,” Hadid wrote in a post on Threads on October 21, in response to a since-deleted post. “Elsa killed it. I’m the biggest fan of the OG Angels; but even the scale and size of this parade doesn’t compare to the OG parades.”

Indeed, Hosk’s march was compared to that of Gisèle Bundchen— who, despite appearing in a pre-recorded video this year, hasn’t walked in a Victoria’s Secret fashion show since 2006 — and Hadid pointed out that it takes a lot more power to fly down the runway these days.

“It’s a very long walk backstage these days++ they can be over 75 pounds, over 10 feet tall, sometimes animatronic, etc,” she continued. “The wings are getting bigger and bigger because the viewers love it and they are MAJOR but NOT aerodynamic, then add the flurry of track fans!! It takes 3 men to take these wings off us.”

Hadid: mom to Khai4 years, with ex Zayn Malik– also completed his message with some praise for his compatriot Angel.

“Elsa is gorgeous, strong and wears them like a boss,” she wrote. “You have no idea.”

And while Bündchen was hailed as the model of a good fashion show, the former model stressed that she had “no desire” to return to traditional fashion shows.

Indeed, Bündchen declared She magazine in 2022 that designers are asking her to return to the catwalk “every year”, she is much happier doing editorial shoots.

“It’s very easy for me to go in there, create a character and play that role for the day,” the 46-year-old explained. “It motivates me. I also feel inspired to create more beautiful things in the world in different ways.”
