The Colts’ decision to fire general manager Chris Ballard this week has sparked several questions about the future of the franchise.
Those questions include how active interim general manager Ed Dodds will be when it comes to making moves before the Nov. 10 trade deadline. One of the players brought up in discussions of trade options is left guard Quenton Nelson.
Nelson has made the Pro Bowl every year since the Colts made him a first-round pick in 2018 and he has been a first- or second-team All-Pro six times, but he is in the final year of his contract and whatever the Colts get for him could help the team’s rebuilding effort. On Wednesday, Nelson said he loved being with the Colts and his attention was completely focused on helping the team on the field.
“I I have no questions” said Nelson, via Joel A. Erickson of Indianapolis Star. “I leave that to God, and I just focus on doing my best and giving my all every day in everything I do, and putting my all into the field.”
Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner is another Colts veteran in the final year of his contract and his name is also likely to come up in trade discussions as teams evaluate whether the Colts look to totally reboot a Ballard-built roster.
