Becca Tobin on ‘Glee’ Reboot: ‘It Gives Me Diarrhea’

Becca Tobin had quite a reaction to the news that Joy is getting a revival on Disney+ and Hulu.

Tobin joined the Ryan Murphy series in season 4 as Kitty Wilde, a bully and member of the McKinley High cheerleading squad who channeled an early Quinn Fabray. The actress returned in season 4 and became a series regular in season 5. She reprized the role in season 6.

“It gives me diarrhea,” Tobin said on the LadyGang podcast about resuming the series. “It’s a situation where I’m not an original cast member. I wasn’t in Season 1. I came in three seasons in. So, there’s no guarantee.”

She added: “There’s no guarantees for anyone, for anything, anywhere, right? But it’s the kind of thing where you sit there, and you wait, and you’re like, ‘Okay, is he going to decide to invite, to ask, whatever?’ It’s such a strange feeling.

Earlier this week, Deadline reported that Joy was in the process of rebooting, with Disney+ and Hulu ordering it to series. Although no talent is attached to the revival, the show’s co-creator said he has completed a script for the new series.

On the LadyGang podcast, Tobin continued to express his thoughts on the Glee announcement, adding, “You know, when you feel that kind of anxiety where you’re like, oh my God, is this going to be the kind of thing where it’s going to come up and everywhere I go, and I don’t do anything, not even like a scene in an episode, and then everyone talks to me and asks me about it.”

Although little has been said about what Joy Reportedly a revival, Tobin acknowledged how “it’s going to be difficult for them to already incorporate these original cast members and the new people and everything else. I don’t know what the plan is. I know the original people will most likely come back. It’s no mystery that Ryan talked to them.”
