Several teams have commercial interests at Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, reports Stephen Holder of ESPN. It’s unclear if the Colts will be sellers at the trade deadline.
The Colts fired general manager Chris Ballard on Monday, with Ed Dodds serving as interim general manager. Head coach Shane Steichen could also be on his way out if the 2-4 Colts can turn things around.
Taylor, 27, led the league in carries (323), touchdowns (18) and first downs (84) last season.
“I haven’t thought about it at all,” Taylor said when asked about his future Thursday. “It would be crazy right now, especially because we have a great Minnesota Vikings team to play against. I think it would be a discredit and a disservice to my teammates and this entire organization to think about what could, what should, what could be.”
A second-round pick of the Colts in 2020, Taylor signed two contract extensions. The most recent, a three-year contract, was signed in August and his annual average of $22 million ranks third at his position.
Taylor has 122 carries for 492 yards and seven touchdowns in six games this season. He has 1,673 carries for 8,090 yards and 76 touchdowns.
