Seth Meyers on Trump’s fixation on men’s bodies: ‘Why are you so weird?’ | Late Night TV Roundup

Seth Meyers shared his horror at a much-criticized Republican campaign ad while trying to understand why Donald Trump has become so obsessed with men’s bodies lately.

The Late Night host said there has been “widespread bipartisan” outrage over a “despicable” new advert that sparked controversy this week.

He opened with footage of Trump at a rally, saying Democrats would undo all the great work he’s done if they triumph in next month’s midterms.

“All you did was undo things!” Meyers responded, adding that “we had great things” before Trump came in and ruined them.

Trump also claimed that the midterm elections would take place on October 31, before “what we call November,” which Meyers said sounds like a book you would read to impress someone at a bar.

He also joked that if you said that after being pulled over by a cop, “they wouldn’t even give you a breathalyzer.”

Trump campaigned in deep red states, but “unraveled” on stage, rambling again about not winning the Nobel Peace Prize while forgetting his name and calling it the Pulitzer.

“What other awards does this guy think he deserves?” Meyers asked before joking that he would expect a Tony because “I know so many Tonys.”

But on Wednesday, he had “a lot of hiccups” and made a bizarre sound that sounded “less like a president’s and more like a bullfrog.”

Trump has also apparently developed “a bizarre fixation on men’s physiques,” with Meyers playing a strange montage of the president describing men’s bodies. “The only issue he has left to campaign on is me, like what I see,” Meyers added.

Meyers said Trump “looks like a blindfolded bachelor in a strip club” but he has “always favored surface over substance… he just knows marketing.”

There were repeated references to men’s asses that Meyers shared with viewers before asking Trump, “Why are you so weird?” »

Meyers added: “No one cares if you can bounce a quarter off Jon Husted’s ass, because thanks to inflation that quarter is worthless.” »

Meyers joked that Trump looks like “Samantha when she’s dating a new male model,” he said, referring to the Sex and the City character. However, with Texas candidate Ken Paxton, Trump was “much less complimentary.”

Republicans are becoming “desperate” and nowhere is this more evident than in Ohio with candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, the “annoying tech billionaire that even Republicans hated when he ran in 2024.”

In his campaign for governor of Ohio, he ran “one of the slimiest, most disgusting ads in political history” that used his opponent’s ex-mother to claim she was lying about being sexually assaulted as a child.

“Have you ever seen a more insufferable asshole in your life?” Meyers asked before saying the ad went “so clearly over the line” that even Republicans spoke out.

But instead, JD Vance attacked every Republican who spoke out against the ad. “Is there no soul behind all that eyeliner?” asked Meyers.

Meyers added that the vice president “revels in being an asshole, but being an asshole comes at a cost.”
