After all, the United States apparently isn’t accusing Canada of meddling in its elections – at least not yet.
United States Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra said in an interview published Friday that the embassy had not reached a conclusion about election interference despite the release of a fact sheet detailing what it said were “plans to influence U.S. politics” by prominent Canadians.
Hoekstra said in a podcast interview recorded Wednesday that comments he made about election interferencewhich prompted a rebuttal from the Prime Minister Marc Carneywere taken out of context.
The ambassador said in an interview with The Elevate Report that the activities detailed in the information sheetamong whom was the Minister of Industry Melanie Joly Meetings with Democratic officials in Boston and Chicago to discuss tariffs imposed by the Trump administration could be seen by some as potential interference.
