Oregon State wide receiver Jesse Legree is officially returning to the Beavers for the 2027 season, the first-year star announced Friday.
After Legree’s father, Jeffrey Legree Jr., released several graphics this week announcing a “decision day,” 247Sports reported Friday morning that it would host the freshman star’s announcement.
Hours later, Legree told Beaver Nation he would stick around for another season.
“I will be signing with the Oregon State Beavers for the 2027-2028 season,” Legree said.
Legree’s groundbreaking announcement came in response to a lack of fanfare during his initial commitment to Oregon State, Legree told 247Sports and CBS Sports HQ.
The true freshman became one of the most productive receivers in college football during his first season in Corvallis, serving as a human highlight for Oregon State during JaMarcus ShephardThis is his first season as head coach.
In his first seven games at the collegiate level, Legree had 46 receptions for 1,040 yards and 14 touchdowns. His yards and touchdown ratings lead the nation.
Meanwhile, the Baltimore native has recorded at least 100 receiving yards in all seven games this season, breaking Beavers legend Mike Hass’ old record of five straight games with 100 yards or more. Legree was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week seven consecutive times, tying the conference record for most weekly honors by a player.
His return gives the Beavers a proven difference maker to rely on on the offensive side of the ball in 2027.
Legree first turned heads with his eight-catch, 240-yard performance against Texas Tech on September 12, when the true freshman torched the Red Raiders defense for two touchdowns. Since then, he hasn’t slowed down much, recording 191 yards and three touchdowns against San Diego State, and 108 yards and two touchdowns in Oregon State’s most recent win against Washington State.
Shephard said Legree played with a level of confidence he had only seen once or twice before, citing Rondale Moore and Jalen McMillan as examples.
With the return of the star receiver, the Beavers retain one of the best young players in the country.
