Russia sends its first diesel fuel truck to the United States at a price close to $6 a gallon

The first tanker carrying 40,000 tons of diesel left Russia for New York earlier this week, following the deal between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to release millions of tons of diesel into the global supply, Fox News reported.

This comes as diesel has soared to more than $6 a gallon in the United States.

“The first tanker has left for customers and regular supplies will continue,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.

Following the deal earlier this month, Trump also lifted most sanctions against Russia and those who bought fuel from the country under the Graham Act, supported by the late Sen. Lindsey Graham.

However, retired Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Arnold Punaro told Fox News that the 40,000 tons would only provide “a few hours” of diesel.

“Look, reducing fuel prices is a very legitimate and necessary policy goal,” he told John Roberts on “America Reports.” “The president has a number of positive initiatives in this regard. However, I am not thinking about lifting sanctions on Russia and buying diesel fuel from Russia and fueling their war machine, which just suffered another massive ballistic missile attack on kyiv yesterday, killing women and children, destroying their energy grid, which would result in the Ukrainians being frozen out. So I hope they change their mind, strengthen the other initiatives they have, reverse this oil and will take a different direction.

Punaro said Putin’s goal was to reclaim territory belonging to the Soviet Union.

“He was never going to stop with Ukraine. That’s why we have to stop him in Ukraine,” he said.

As part of the Oct. 9 deal between the United States and the Kremlin, Putin agreed to “immediately supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel fuel to the U.S. and global market, an additional 500,000 tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 tons immediately thereafter,” Trump said.

Trump said the deal came after the two had a “very fruitful discussion.”

He added on Truth Social: “In addition, depending on the state of its diesel refineries, Russia will then, in a short period of time, deliver 3,000,000 tons of diesel fuel. Between our TOTAL CONTROL of the Strait of Hormuz and this big announcement on Russian energy, diesel prices for Americans and, indeed, the world, will FALL IN RECORD NUMBERS AND FAST! Ranchers and truckers are my biggest priority. »
