College Football Week 8: Live Updates, Schedule, Scores, Rankings

Now that our heart rates are back to a normal, healthy level after two field goals and a double overtime that led to three ranked losses in the afternoon window, let’s get back to the night block.

On paper, it wasn’t supposed to be a crazy weekend with only two ranked versus ranked matchups on the schedule.

However, if another Top 25 team falls to an unranked team, it will be the most unranked ranked win of the season. Week 6 and this week are now tied, with four unranked ranked wins.

No. 12 Kentucky vs. Vanderbilt

The Wildcats narrowly lead the Commodores 14-10 before halftime in Lexington.

With big wins over ranked teams like LSU and Texas A&M, Will Stein’s Kentucky squad gave the big dogs a run for their money, earning a No. 12 spot in the latest AP poll — the Wildcats’ highest ranking since 2022.

But for Vanderbilt quarterback Jared Curtis, the Wildcats’ ranking is just another number.

Curtis is 17 of 22 with 130 passing yards and a touchdown so far, with five of his wide receivers reaching double figures in yards, leaning heavily on his 6-foot-7 tight end Cole Spence.

This will definitely be a game to watch.

No. 16 Southern Cal at Wisconsin

The Badgers lead the Trojans 10-7 before halftime, giving another Top 25 team a scare in the first half.

Southern Cal has less than 100 yards of offense so far. The last time the Trojans had 100 or fewer yards of offense in a half? Against Utah in 2018.

No. 7 Ole Miss at No. 19 Texas

Well, as Sam Ehlinger once said, Texas might be back.

In prime time, Texas leads Ole Miss 24-3 heading into halftime with an impressive display from Arch Manning.

Manning, who was brutally scrutinized after Texas’ 27-24 loss to unranked Florida last week, is 12 of 18 for 164 passing yards with a touchdown and an interception.

With less than six minutes left in the half, Texas has 257 yards of offense, while Ole Miss has 67.
