How Petr Yan beat Merab Dvalishvili

Merab Dvalishvili went looking for a takedown from the first bell and kept trying until the end of the first round.

Petr Yan defended most of the shots, but he was unable to mount any real offense in the first five minutes of the UFC 333 co-main event.

The champion landed some eye-catching punches in the second round, but he still spent most of the round being pursued relentlessly by Dvalishvili, who clearly led 2-0 after 10 minutes.

Yan had a much better third round. Dvalishvili was injured twice, but he was still very busy with takedown attempts and strikes throughout the match.

The fourth round was the first flawless one for Yan, who ignored all takedown attempts, landed some big punches and appeared to have slightly pissed off his rival.

Yan also won the fifth round. Dvalishvili was in play, but outplayed on the feet for the last five minutes.

Ultimately, all three judges at cageside scored the fight 48-47 in favor of Yan, who retained his 135-pound belt.
