At least 12 injured, including 6 children, in shooting near Florida A&M University

At least 12 people were injured, including six children, in a shooting Saturday near a Tallahassee football stadium during Florida A&M University’s homecoming weekend, authorities said. Eleven people were shot and injured.

Tallahassee police said in a statement Sunday that six of the shooting victims remained hospitalized and five had been released. One of the people still hospitalized was being treated for serious injuries.

The department previously said at least three people were seriously injured in the shooting, while nine others were reported to be in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation indicates a fight broke out before the shooting, according to police. This followed a football match in a busy area.

Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell told reporters that no arrests had been made.

“Tonight, our thoughts are with the victims and their families as they deal with the devastating impact of this violence,” Revell said. “It is particularly heartbreaking to know that children were among those injured.”

The university said on social media that the shooting happened near its campus and that it remained safe.
