Dana White reveals why Shakur Stevenson was released from Zuffa Boxing so quickly

But what exactly happened?

UFC CEO Dana White addressed this topic during the UFC 333 post-fight press conference after Zuffa Boxing let Stevenson walk without incident.

“I offered him his release,” White said. “I offered him release. Look, I think everyone involved is happy with where we are. I don’t have anything bad to say about him or his team. But I offered them release and they accepted.”

Stevenson’s signing was widely considered the biggest addition to Zuffa Boxing’s roster since the organization’s launch. Undefeated and considered one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the sport, Stevenson teamed up with Zuffa and rumors immediately swirled of a possible showdown with Devin Haney.

However, that fight did not happen and no further clashes took place before Stevenson decided to part ways with Zuffa. For his part, White says there is no bad blood and he has nothing bad to say about Stevenson, but the two sides have parted ways.

“We never even had one fight with this guy,” White said of why he granted the release. “We had been in business for a few months.

“Look, I’m not going to say anything negative about it or we tried to do this or we tried to do that. We got to a position where we both agreed that we were cool with the release.”
