49ers lead at halftime despite offensive struggles without Christian McCaffrey

The 49ers’ game plan for today featured a heavy dose of Christian McCaffrey. But things didn’t go as planned.

A dramatic opening drive ended with McCaffrey diving into the end zone for a 1-yard touchdown, but on the 49ers’ second offensive possession, McCaffrey had to leave the game with a hamstring injury.

At halftime, the score was 14-12, with the 49ers leading even though there weren’t many playmakers left after McCaffrey exited. The 49ers were very thin at wide receiver before today’s game, and no 49ers wide receiver caught a pass in the first half. Running back Kaelon Black had a 30-yard touchdown, but he also lost a fumble.

The Falcons got 37 rushing yards and 21 receiving yards in the first half from Bijan Robinson. McCaffrey is listed as questionable, so Robinson could be the only star of the game for the second half.
