The New York Jets handed the lowly Miami Dolphins their first win of the season on Sunday, and head coach Aaron Glenn did himself no favors for the Jets faithful in the process. And one of the most prominent Jets fans in sports media, ESPN host Mike Greenberg, brought out the pitchforks shortly after Sunday’s loss.
Greenberg, who has embraced his role as the public face of The New York Jets Experience, confronted Glenn after the 28-25 loss, specifically calling his game management decisions among the worst of any NFL head coach.
It’s a loss that feels like the end of everything. The worst in years. An absolute shame.
To all the #Jets fans telling me to put up with losing and draft picks, I’m not fighting back anymore.
And it’s just a question of when, not if, they fire the coach. They absolutely should do it.

“This is a loss that feels like the end of everything. The worst in years. An absolute shame,” Greeny wrote. “To all the #Jets fans telling me to put up with losing and draft picks, I’m not fighting back anymore. And it’s just a matter of when, not if, they fire the coach. They absolutely should.”
THE Get up However, the host wasn’t finished yet. Glenn, during his postgame press conference, attempted to explain a late half scenario in which he opted not to call any of the Jets’ three timeouts, which could have helped the Jets gain an extra possession before time expired.
“Maybe we should have called our timeouts to get the ball back, but at that point we just felt like we were going to stop them and be able to get the ball back.”

“Maybe we should have called our timeouts to get the ball back, but at that point we just felt like we were going to stop them and be able to get the ball back,” Glenn said. Greenberg was not impressed.
This response is inexcusable.
Game management is the most important part of this job and he is as bad as any coach I have ever seen.
There may be no point in making the change now, but it’s over, it’s just a question of when.— Mike Greenberg (@Espngreeny) October 25, 2026

Greeny has carved out quite a unique role for himself in sports media. He is simultaneously able to speak on behalf of an aggrieved fan base and also hold a position as a presenter of NFL Sunday Countdowna role where the host is traditionally a neutral observer. Threading that needle is no easy task, but perhaps the Jets’ organizational ineptitude makes the head of that needle a little wider, because no one is going to question someone taking Aaron Glenn to task after Sunday’s coaching debacle.
