Sometimes upgrading after booking can be considerably cheaper than purchasing a premium economy ticket outright. On a recent overnight transatlantic flight, Nastro was offered a $238 (€212/£178) upgrade, far less than the difference between the two fares at the time of booking.
“For me, the extra cost was worth it to have a better experience on an overnight flight,” she says, especially since she had to get underway the next day.
