The Jets suffered an embarrassing 28-25 loss to the previously winless Dolphins on Sunday. Here are some thoughts and observations from the game:
1. Jets fans are out for blood after this loss, and I get it. But firing Aaron Glenn now wouldn’t do anything except make you feel better for a few days. I promise you the Jets won’t suddenly look better without Glenn and you’ll be frustrated with the interim coach (think Jeff Ulbrich in 2024).
Woody Johnson needs to let Glenn finish this season and then make his evaluation. Right now it feels like Glenn is done for, but there are 10 games left and maybe he’ll find a way to turn things around.
Firing him now would only send the season into a total downward spiral. I understand you’d say that’s already the case, but I think the Jets’ chances of rallying to win more games are better with Glenn. I’m not sure people appreciate the importance of the head coach in a football organization. He is the heart of the team. It’s different in other sports.
