Brewers vs Rays live updates, World Series score: ALCS MVP Freddy Peralta, Robert Gasser to start Game 3

The Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays return for Game 3 of the World Series, with first pitch at 8 p.m. ET Monday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The Rays find themselves in an 0-2 hole as they return home after a disastrous Game 2 loss. In that one, Tampa Bay took a four-run lead in the top of the first, but didn’t score again, and the Brewers chipped away. Sal Frelick tied the game with a leadoff homer in the sixth, and Cooper Pratt drove in Brice Turang with the go-ahead run in the seventh for a 5-4 victory.

In Game 3, the Brewers will rely on left-hander Robert Gasser (5-5, 3.87 ERA). He recently pitched five scoreless innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the NLCS, allowing 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3 in a 6-2 victory.

The Rays will counter with right-hander Freddy Peralta (10-11, 4.42 ERA), who was named ALCS MVP after allowing just one earned run on 9 hits with 9 strikeouts in 12 innings in three appearances, including two starts, against the Cleveland Guardians.

Call canceled. The Brewers will have the bases loaded with two outs and Brice Turang batting. That will do it for Freddy Peralta, who comes out after 87 pitches in 4 2/3 innings.

It will be Cam Booser who will try to keep this game winnable for the Rays.

With runners on first and second and two outs, Junior Caminero throws a spinning pitch to second to end the inning. The Brewers are contesting the call, and replay certainly makes it look like they’re going to win.
