The Colts are open for business, as evidenced by Tuesday’s trades that sent offensive lineman Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the 49ers. The next question, 13 days before the 2026 trading window, is whether anyone else will be traded.
Running back Jonathan Taylor became an obvious candidate. His wife has posted no less than three videos on the subject in recent days, and Taylor admitted the existence of commercial rumors.
Here is the question that will become more and more pressing as the week goes on. If the Colts have decided to accept the best offer they get for Taylor — and if they haven’t gotten an offer they like yet — the process could linger beyond next weekend. This will force the Colts to decide whether to play Taylor or keep him out of action.
On Monday night, the Eagles’ opportunity to trade running back Saquon Barkley became more complicated as his hamstring injury worsened, followed by a back injury. For all we know, seeing Barkley get hurt may have prompted the Colts to move Nelson and Buckner before they suffered an injury as well.
Taylor plays an injury-prone position. If the Colts take a good scratch on him on Sunday, it will be the clearest indication that a trade is coming. Unless it happens sooner.
