Jennifer Lawrence filmed a nude scene in front of unauthorized crew members

Jennifer Lawrence revealed on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast that she discovered while filming a nude scene that there were crew members on set who were not allowed to be present during the filming of such intimate material. The incident prompted Lawrence to “come down hard” on the crew and remains one of the definitive moments in her acting career that taught her the importance of speaking out.

When asked if she’s become more comfortable over the years defending herself, Lawrence said, “You have to be malleable. It’s part of the job. When Lynne Ramsay in ‘Die My Love’ says cut your hair, give yourself mullet bangs and dye it platinum blonde… that’s the job. You have to be malleable. But I definitely speak up more now because I’m aware of my place in the industry.”

“There was an instance on set where crew members who weren’t approved while I was doing nudity were on set. I was harsh about it, just because if we don’t establish that principle, what the hell is going to happen to an 18-year-old stranger when she shows up and there are people on set who aren’t allowed to be there? She’s going to be in a position where I say something and get the reputation to be difficult or do I let these people I’m not comfortable with see me naked. It was important to me to explain to people why it wasn’t acceptable.

Lawrence is no stranger to nudity or sex scenes in her film. She went viral last year for her comments about forgoing an intimacy coordinator while filming “Die My Love” with Robert Pattinson.

“We didn’t have (an intimacy coordinator), or maybe we did but we didn’t really have it…I felt really safe with Rob,” Lawrence said on the “Las Culturistas” podcast. “He’s not perverted and very much in love with (partner) Suki Waterhouse. We mainly talked about our children and our relationships. There was never any weirdness like, “Does he think I like him?” If there was any of that, I’d probably have an intimacy coordinator. A lot of male actors get offended if you don’t want to fuck them, and then the punishment begins. He wasn’t like that.

As for the film’s nude scenes: “I don’t care about nudity. I’m not sensitive to it. I wanted Lynne to have complete artistic freedom…I think being pregnant took away a lot of vanity anxiety. Before ‘No Hard Feelings,’ I was dieting, not eating carbs and exercising. I was pregnant (for ‘Die My Love’). Like, what was I going to do? Not eat? I was working 15 hours a day. I was just tired…I remember they sent me a big shot of cellulite and they were like, ‘Do you want us to retouch that?’
