Apple released iOS 27.2 this week with new features for Messages, Siri AI and Photos, as well as a rebranding of Apple Music and more. But work on iOS 27.3 is already well underway, here’s when to expect the next big iPhone update.
iOS 27.3 is almost available in beta, with a public launch planned for mid-December

If you follow Apple closely, the company’s software release patterns quickly become clear.
For example, iOS 27.2 launched this week around the same time as Apple’s previous releases in years past.
The only difference is that normally we would have expected iOS 27.1 in the last week of October rather than 27.2. But because Apple made iOS 27.1 exclusive to the iPhone Duo, all software releases in the iOS 27 cycle will be shifted by one number, even if they follow the same schedule as always.
This means that iOS 27.3 is next and its release should align with historical patterns for x.2 updates.
iOS 27.3 should arrive in beta in the coming days (Monday November 2 is likely).
As for the public launch, here’s what past years have shown for comparable x.2 updates:
- iOS 26.2: Friday December 12
- iOS 18.2: Wednesday December 11
- iOS 17.2: Monday December 11
Based on this model, iOS 27.3 is expected to be released in mid-December.
Apple always tries to deliver its last software update of the year with a bit of a head start before taking a vacation. This way, if major problems arise, the company can develop a quick solution and disseminate it before a large portion of the company takes time off.
As for new iPhone features in iOS 27.3, we’ll know a lot more after the beta arrives. So far, we’re at least waiting for the additional Siri AI languages Apple announced this week, as well as the return of the all-new Health app.
Are you going to install the iOS 27.3 beta or wait for the final version? Let us know in the comments.
