Brothers and sisters, friends of the revolution… We are now over a month into “Pregame with Matthew Berry” on Roku and The Roku Channel from noon ET to 2 p.m. I talk about it all the time because it’s the most ambitious thing I’ve ever done and it’s important to me. Important to me and important to Fantasy Life, so if you like me and/or us and want to support what we do, I’d love for you to check it out.
It repeats from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET, then from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET. And if you access Roku or the Roku Channel app on your non-Roku TV or tablet/phone, just look for it in the sports area. And if you don’t have a Roku TV or Roku Channel app, you can also check them out at www.therokuchannel.roku.com. Go to Browse, then Sports, then scroll down to Top Sports on the Roku Channel…
We have a lot of fun every day and I promise to make you a smarter fantasy player/sports fan and a much dumber person. It’s 100% free to watch. And of course, many excerpts from the show are available on my YouTube channel.
I also highly, and I mean highly, recommend joining the Fantasy Football Happy Hour Discord, where an amazing group of people talk fantasy football all day, asking and answering questions while commenting on my show. They’re a welcoming, smart, hilarious group, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate them. I also spend a lot of time on Discord, so that’s definitely the easiest way to reach me if you’re so inclined.
You can access everything we have to offer at Fantasy Life with a FantasyLife+ Subscription (Code BERRY for 10% off). That means my rankings, fully customized to fit YOUR leagues, my projections, league sync, our waiver transfer tool, Dwain McFarland’s world-famous usage report (which is brought to you by Tenex.ai), our startup/sit tool, and much more.
Bottom Line: A reminder that every Sunday morning I do Fantasy Football Happy Hour: Last Call at Noon ET with Alex Cupps on my YouTube channel…come get your questions answered.
But before you do that, you need to read this. Because these are the…
10 Facts You Need to Know for Week 8 of Fantasy Football
- During week 7, Bo Nix scored a season-high 26.2 fantasy points.
- 18.3 of those points came on 2 plays.
- Literally 70% of his production consisted of a 62-yard TD run where Nix was untouched, then a 52-yard screen pass to RJ Harvey, where Harvey gained 60 yards after the catch.
- If you want to believe, do it, but I’m not there yet.
- In his first match back from IR, Jonah Coleman led the Broncos backfield in snap rate (50%).
- And touch (11).
- 21% of his carries gained more than 10 yards.
- For the season, Coleman is now averaging 4.9 YPC
- RJ Harvey is at 3.6 YPC
- JK Dobbins is at 3.4.
- In the first quarter against the Falcons last week, Kaelon Black had a catch rate of 53%.
- He also got 7 hits.
- He also saw multiple red zone hits for the fifth time in his last 6 games.
- With Christian McCaffrey dealing with a slight hamstring strain, Black is a fixture in leagues where he is always available, even if he is off this week.
- Last time TreVeyon Henderson reached 5 fantasy points in a game was… Week 2.
- Over the next 5 games, he saw only 30% of the Patriots’ RB touches.
- I mean, there’s still value as injury insurance for Rhamondre Stevenson, but that’s it.
- Last week it was Dylan SampsonIR’s first game back.
- That same week, Quinshon Judkins set a season-low in snap rate (51.5%).
- And target share (3%).
- In the 5 games Judkins played without Sampson this season, Judkins averaged a 13.6% target share.
- Judkins will continue to see the majority of touches in this backfield, but with Sampson returning to the lineup, Judkins’ role in the passing game takes a big hit.
- In his 5 games completed before Week 7 this season, KC Concepcion averaged a 5.3 aDOT and 30 air yards.
- But in Week 7, KC Concepcion had an aDOT of 11.1 and had 111 air yards.
- He achieved a target share of at least 20% in every full game he played.
- If adding deeper targets continues, rocket emoji.
- From Mike Evans was injured in the second quarter of week 6, Brock Purdy attempted 49 passes.
- Of those 49 passes, only 15 went to WRs.
- Hopefully Evans and/or Deebo Samuel can return after the 49ers bye, because otherwise there isn’t a single SF WR worth starting in fantasy.
- In the 2 matches since Caleb Williams income, Colston Loveland achieves on average a target share of 30%.
- And 19.2 PPG.
- It topped the rankings in terms of usage over this period.
- He finished as a top 5 TE in both weeks.
- During week 7, Isaiah Probably saw 4 targets, the lowest of the season.
- He finished with just 24 air yards.
- Since JJ McCarthy took over as starter, Likely has averaged a 16% target share.
- With Jameis Winston at center, his target share was 30%.
- In the 3 matches since Mason Taylor returning from injury, he completed 35 more courses than Kenyon Sadiq.
- And in each of the last two weeks, Taylor has achieved a target share of at least 20%.
- His role still isn’t big enough to make him anything more than a mid-level TE2, but he’s completely killed Sadiq’s fantasy value.
