The opening: King The Closer, Playoff Kiké, Acuna knee injury

The Brewers can’t seem to win a playoff game away from American Family Field. Milwaukee has lost 12 straight postseason games on the road, tying the longest streak in postseason history (with Adam McCalvy of MLB.com).

1. King keeps the Padres alive

With Adrien Morejón sick and Mason Miller on paternity leave, the Padres turned to Michael King to close out Game 3. The Game 2 starter raced through the final six outs to keep San Diego alive in the NLDS. It was the first time a pitcher had a six-out save in the postseason two days after starting, reports Jayson Stark of The Athletic. King ran into some trouble in the ninth inning, walking two to put the tying run into scoring position. Christian Yélich then burned a Grounder up Alexandre Bogaerts for a game-ending double play. Walker Bühler will get the ball for the Padres tonight. The Brewers’ starter is TBD.

2. Playoff Kiké does it again

Chris Sale And Yoshinobu Yamamoto played three rounds on Tuesday. The Dodgers finally broke the seal in the fourth inning thanks to their secret weapon. Kiké Hernández threw a selling changeup into the left field stands to get the Dodgers on the board. Freddie Freeman Homer was going to soon too. The lead would be more than enough for Yamamoto and company. Hernandez now has 17 homers in 332 plate appearances in the postseason. “We needed some of that Kiké dustsaid manager Dave Roberts (with Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic).

3. Acuna dealing with knee injury

Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. was limited to DH yesterday due to knee pain. Manager Walt Weiss told reporters the injury could keep him from playing right field in Game 4 tonight (with Mark Bowman of MLB.com). Acuna was initially in the lineup in right field for Game 3, but was moved to DH before the game. Thomas Lane started in right field, with Mauricio Dubon covering left field and Ha Seong Kim at shortstop.
