Colandrea’s return deal Nebraska next season comes just days after head coach Matt Rhule claimed several SEC programs were already tampering with the quarterback.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to say that (Colandrea) doesn’t have enough support,” Rhule said Oct. 19. “I don’t think it’s good for our players. And not good because he already has SEC schools calling him. I don’t want Nebraska let people start saying that, because it’s already happened here. We don’t need it here anymore.
He has 1,570 passing yards (8th in the Big Ten) and 14 passing touchdowns (4th in the Big Ten) with four interceptions. Anthony Colandrea has unfinished business in Lincoln
Colandrea, the 2025 Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year, had high expectations for him when he transferred this offseason. Nebraska was hungry for a quarterback he could confidently call “a star,” and they certainly have that in Colandrea.
Ahead of this season, Colandrea spoke with On3. He stated that the expectations of Nebraska is to win 11, 12 games, go to the College Football Playoff and win a national championship. It certainly appears that he is determined to achieve this goal before the end of his term.
“You’re not here to not win a national championship. I don’t come here just to win eight or nine games. I want to win a national championship; I want to go to the playoffs. I have high expectations, and we have high expectations as a team. When I got here, I felt like the bar was eight or nine wins, and I was like, no, we want to win 11, 12 games. We have to win. That’s the most important thing.”
