Three days left: candidates scatter across the battlefields as midterm exams approach last weekend

Peltola ‘deeply offended’ by allegations amid investigations into Alaska Senate race

Alaska Senate candidate Mary Peltola on Friday evening denied allegations that she was involved in efforts related to another candidate’s entry into the race, saying she was “deeply offended” by the accusations.

“I am deeply offended by these accusations that I am involved in someone else’s candidacy,” Peltola said at a rally in Anchorage.

“Of course, I want fewer candidates in the primary,” she continued. “I’m not looking to solicit more competition.

“His comments come as federal and state investigations examine allegations first reported by The New York Times that members of his campaign and Democratic operatives helped recruit another candidate named Dan Sullivan to run against Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan.

Peltola and his campaign continue to deny any involvement in this alleged effort.

The former Alaska congresswoman also argued Friday that she doesn’t need outside help to compete with Sullivan.

“I don’t need any help to win this race except from all of you here and the massive support we have across the state, from Utqiagvik to Metlakatla,” Peltola said.
