NFL Network: Colts ready to trade RB Jonathan Taylor; talks are active and ongoing | Latest NFL News, Analysis and Updates

The moves come as the Colts sit at 2-5, having fired general manager Chris Ballard following a loss to the previously winless Tennessee Titans in Week 6.

Taylor, for his part, recently said he was proud to be with the Colts, but acknowledged the possibility of a trade happening.

Such a trade would represent a seismic shift, both for Indianapolis and the team that landed him.

Taylor, who totaled 587 rushing yards and a league-leading eight touchdowns this season, amassed a total of 9,832 yards and 84 touchdowns during his seven-year career. He signed a two-year extension worth $44 million last August, meaning the 27-year-old wouldn’t just be a rental for a championship-seeking club.

He’s a pricey addition — third among running backs at $22 million per year — but he’s in his prime and under contract through 2028.

Any team would be instantly improved by adding him, and after being reluctant to part with him, the Colts have seemingly opened the door a little wider to make it happen.
