that of November PS Plus Essential the games were revealed earlier this week, and I think it’s a pretty interesting selection.
That’s because all three games offer something completely different. We have on our hands a fairly well-known headliner, a collection of remastered adventures, and a much-loved independent film.
Dead Island 2 is the first. This hard-hitting sequel combines hyper-violent zombie killings with tongue-in-cheek storytelling through an apocalyptic Los Angeles.
It’s a good laugh – especially if you team up with a few friends online – and a solid action adventure.
Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered is next on the list, and while Lara Croft’s fourth, fifth, and sixth outings are rarely mentioned with the same kind of reverence as her original trilogy, they’re still packed with nostalgic platforming goodness.
And last but not least – go check the review scores – is Monster Train 2. It’s a deck-building roguelike filled with fantastical creatures, and it’s super addictive once you get the hang of the turn-based mechanics.
I get it: some people hear “deck-building” and “roguelike”, and they turn away – but there’s a reason why this extremely expansive sequel is so beloved.
