Neighbors remember the jogger who was stabbed in the neck on a popular Brooklyn waterfront promenade Friday night as a “family-oriented” woman who worked at a local bank.
Katie Suarez, 28, was a “very professional, very kind” woman who had a “very good character,” her neighbors told The Post on Saturday.
“I mean, no one’s life is supposed to be taken away, you know, good or bad, but she was pretty exceptional to me, the way I interacted with her,” a neighbor said.
“It’s sad, man, because they’re good neighbors… they constantly pass by, you know, they treat people with respect,” the man said of Suarez and his partner.
Neighbors said Suarez, who was left brain dead in the attack, worked at a local bank branch as a teller.
“A good cashier and a good character, you know? She seems like a very family-oriented woman,” explained a neighbor.
The neighbor also said that “she is a very sweet girl, very kind”, stressing that it was “very sad for her”.
“I’m very sad. It’s terrible. I’m sad for everyone,” said local Anna Dece.
“But it’s close. It’s too much right now. It’s a crazy world,” she added.
The runner was stabbed in the neck while he was near Bay 17th Street and Shore Parkway in Bath Beach just after 8 p.m. Friday, police said.
Suarez’s father found her on the path while he went looking for her, according to police sources.
She was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital in critical condition and was declared brain dead on Saturday, law enforcement sources said.
