Nintendo surprised us with a Pikmin-themed Direct this weekend, announcing Pikmin Day! If you haven’t watched the video yet, here’s the entire broadcast:
Pikmin Day – A new annual celebration of Pikmin
Pikmin Day joins MAR10 Day and other events such as Pokémon Day! This will be an annual event every year November 1. Miyamoto explained how this happened:
Shigeru Miyamoto: “We’re going to start calling November 1 Pikmin Day. In the first Pikmin game, released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2001, the red, blue, and yellow Pikmin made their debut. If you imagine these three Pikmin as number one, that makes November 1 Pikmin Day!”
Pikmin 4 – Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy – Free Demo (November 2)
A free demo of Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy released November 2, 2026. It will include the game’s opening Sun-speckled Terrace area, as well as two Dandori Academy scenes. Save data will also transfer to the full game.
Nintendo also provided a quick overview of the features of the Switch 2 edition of Pikmin 4.
This includes voice commands for Oatchi with the built-in micro system. And then there’s the new mode, Dandori Academy, in which you’ll complete challenges, collect treasure, and take an exam. You will receive medals based on your performance.
