Michael Mann, the director of “Heat” and “The Insider,” shot himself in the leg Saturday at a Los Angeles shooting range.
A spokesperson for the filmmaker said that “a weapon accidentally discharged while holstered, resulting in a superficial injury.” Mann was treated at a local hospital for a minor subcutaneous injury. He is being released. The event took place during target practice. Mann is an experienced shooter who has been training on ranges for decades.
A Los Angeles spokesperson said officers responded to a “shots fired” incident at The Range LA around 4 p.m. An investigation determined the shooting was “accidental.” TMZ broke the news of the shooting.
